Well, I'll start off by saying...I was never a runner. I love to walk, and I love to run. The running though always gets the better of me. I'm not going to let it this time though. I do have sensitive knees and although I may have lost a lot of weight (a year and a few months ago I was 40lbs. heavier than I am now), I am by no means Mrs. Fitness, and when I run, it shows. My stomach makes me feel nauseous, I feel crampy, blah, blah, blahity, blah. It's from not being in shape. I'm as healthy as a horse, go to the doctor regularly. It scratches down to I need to get more in shape. I once read somewhere, "although you may look fit on the outside, your insides more often than not, beg to differ". I am determined to change that.
Well, if you took the time to read my whole introductory speech there, thank you. To the point now though.
I have decided to run. To ease into it. I have an all or nothing personality and depending on the situation, it can be a super great thing or a disastrous one - and as far as running goes, it is an art that has to be mastered in time. I realize that. The point of this post though is to share an idea I have.
While walking and easing into a bit of running tomorrow morning, I decided to focus on a meditation (or something to just ponder if you will). When I'm outside in nature, I tend to have the clearest mind. I have a book of Earth prayers. They are beautiful poems and prayers to the Earth all around us. Some really make you think, and some make you have some butterflies with how much power and truth they hold in their words. I am by no means religious in the slightest, however, I am very attuned to natural energies around me. I though, what better way than to marvel in the beauty around me as while choosing a random morning meditation (that I figured I'll just flip open the book and let whichever one that I'm supposed to see for that day come to me) to ponder. Who knows, people say they tend to get a natural "runner's high". There just may be a little snippet of joyous peace stitched together with a bit of enlightenment to the moment.
